Preparing the skin:
Clean hands prior to patch application. Select an area of the skin preferably on the back of your upper arm that generally stays flat during normal daily activities (no bending or folding). Select a site that is at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) away from an insulin injection site. To prevent discomfort or skin irritation, select a different site other than the one most recently used. In addition, avoid applying the patch to damaged skin, such as scars, moles, stretch marks, or lumps. Clean the application site with an alcoholic wipe. For best results apply the patch at least one hour prior to exercising, swimming or showering. When applying patch after any physical activity or showering, ensure that skin is clean and dry before patch application.
Applying the Patch:
Begin with the adhesive backing face up. Next gently pull apart adhesive backing along the perforated lines, this will split backing into two parts. Next remove the adhesive backing from patch. Next apply the exposed side of the patch with the adhesive directly over the device. The patch can only be applied once.
Post Application and Daily Use:
Try to avoid wearing clothing that may constantly rub and begin to pull away the ends of the patch. If the patch gets wet simply pat dry with a towel.
Skin Care:
EZpatch is made of elastic non-woven adhesive material with acrylic glue that is non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing to the skin. However, some individuals with extremely sensitive skin may want apply a product to minimize skin irritation such as an Itch stopping Gel.
Patch Removal:
Begin by peeling the patch in the direction of hair growth, next press the skin while gently peeling back the patch until completely removed. If the patch seems strongly adhered to the skin it may be loosened by Soaking a cotton ball or cotton swab in baby oil. Next, gently rub it over the bandage until it falls off.
